Draw Nigh To God

Lord, you said if I drew nigh to You, You in return would draw nigh to me.
In my heart, I began surrendering my life. I think it was the year 2003.
A union was dissolved. A statistic I became. In search for meaning, I looked up.
On the doors of my heart, You knocked. Gentlemanly, You asked with me to sup.
As we were becoming intimately acquainted, Satan, that evil mastermind, rudely interposed.
The death of a loved one, unrequited love, and moving far away from familiarity. My spirit froze.
My initial response was to turn away, for the plethora of questions I asked there was no reply.
Yet for years, I mechanically continued following You. Where were You the many nights I cried?
I even thought You loved me not. Discouragement, depression, and doubt disturbed me daily.
Though on the path to recovery, anxious thoughts still plague my mind of the next trial to be.
I know we live in a sinful world. Unfortunately, pain and suffering are allotted to each of us.
But You’ve come to comfort, heal, and bind up my bruises. This is my story in Journey to Jesus.
